We are at a cross roads in human history, we can choose to continue on as we have been, or we can make a change to improve our future and quite possibly the future for several generations to come. We are here to promote energy independence, a better environment, a secure future and a higher return on investment for your hard earned dollar. It is what I believe in, it is why I am in the solar business.

Cost of a PV system

I did a basic cost analysis for a 1.9 KW grid tie PV system. This is what I came up with

  1. Evergreen ES190 PV panels, 190 Watts, 18 Volts $834.12 each X 10 $8341.20
  2. SMA SB2500U Grid Tie invervter 2500 Watts, 240 volts $1,895.0
  3. Zomeworks UTRF-166-2 Tracking mount $2,794 each
  4. Installation, shipping, wire, building permits, inspections, SIR application, etc $700.00

Total: $13,730.20

Notes:
Zomeworks tracking mount is optional, however a tracking mount will increase the efficiency of the array by 25 percent (allowing you to buy less panels)
SMA SB2500U inverter is MMP string type.
Installation work is done by me, so labor charges are not included.

This is a basic system that could supply my house with most of its electrical needs, provided the solar hot water system continues to work. That is a little pricey right now, I will compare those prices again in a few months.
